Richard Ringer plant für die Zukunft im Marathon eine 2:06 h. Ich bin der Meinung er soll lieber im voraus nicht zu vollmundige Versprechen machen, daran sind schon vor ihm ganz andere unter dem selbst gemachten Druck gescheitert, die ähnliche Bestzeiten auf den Unterdistanzen hatten. Was nützen die besten Unterdistanz Zeiten, wenn man diese nicht umsetzen kann. Er soll in Valencia erst einmal eine 2:10 h oder knapp darunter laufen, selbst dass wird kein "Selbstläufer". Man kennt auch viel sehr gute Halbmarathonläufer, die den Marathon längst nicht so gut liefen, wie es ihre Unterdistanz-Bestzeiten vermuten ließen.

Nur wenn man größer denkt, kann man auch größeres Erreichen. Hat Arne auch gemacht, ein paar mal auf die Schnauze gefallen, aber auch DR gelaufen. Ringer macht für mich einen sehr geerdeten Eindruck (als Controller nicht verwunderlich), seine Trainingsleistungen beeindruckend und er hat einen sehr erfahrenen Trainer. Und er ist einer der ganz wenigen, die offen heraus sagen, dass die Karbonschuhe 2 Minuten ausmachen.

Uneitel ist er auch, er würdigt in besonderer Weise die Leistungen seiner Vorgänger und das die Topzeiten der neuen Generation nur begrenzt zu vergleichen wären. Ich kann mir vorstellen, das er in Valencia genau seinem Plan entsprechend das Rennen gestalten kann. Überzeugt hat er mich in seiner Eignung für den Marathon schon vor Jahren, wo er als Tempomacher (war es Berlin?) bis zur Halbmarathonmarke laufen wollte und dann es bis Kilometer 30 durchzog ohne jetzt für dieses Tempomachen sich speziell vorbereitet zu haben
