Ich finde die Worte vor allem wohlüberlegt… sie haben sich diese Entscheidung sorfältig überlegt, die Verkündung bewusst nicht aus der Situation unmittelbar nach Olympia vorgenommen (Theissen-Eaton beschreibt recht gut, dass sie plötzlich vor allem das Gefühl der Anstrengung und nicht mehr das Hochgefühl "es geschafft zu haben" hatte). Die beiden sind ein gutes Team und waren eine echte Bereicherung der Szene, sie werden eine Lücke hinterlassen - in Ashton Fall wohl sogar eher einen Krater, auch menschlich.
Die Mehrkampfszene wird sich durch den Abgang der beiden ändern, und in der Leichtathletik insgesamt ist einiges im Umbruch - auch im Zusammenhang im Kampf gegen Doping. Einige werden die Gunst der Stunde nutzen wollen, die Frage ist wie sehr sich der Sport ändert und ob die Zuschauer dem Sport die Treue halten (also nicht wir LA-Verrückte, sondern auch die Mehrheit der Gelegenheitszuschauer). Große Namen sind wichtig als Zugpferde für die weniger "fachidiotisch geprägten" und wenn diese wegbleiben… Theissen-Eaton sind passé, auch Bolts Karriere ist schon verbal terminiert, man muss schon außergewöhnliches erreichen um so eine Zugkraft zu entfalten - Bolt ließ ein ganzes Land ersprinten.
