Gerüchtete 2 Millionen Dollar im Erfolgsfall sind ein gewichtiges Argument - wer will es ihm verdenken, wenn er die mitnehmen möchte. Ich würde ihn auch lieber bei einem richtigen Marathon sehen (vielleicht auch mal New York, Fukuoka oder Boston statt den Rennstrecken London und Berlin), aber auf dem Weg zur sportlichen Unsterblichkeit hat "erster Mensch unter 2 Stunden" einen anderen Klang als noch ein WMM-Sieg. Tokio ist noch vergleichsweise weit in der Zukunft und selbst mit einem zweiten Olympiasieg würde er "nur" mit Bikila und Cierpinski gleichziehen. Ich würden den zweiten Olympiasieg höher werten als das sub2 Laborexperiment, aber in der öffentlichen Wahrnehmung außerhalb des Expertenkreises, der die irreguläre Unterstützung bei diesem Experiment überhaupt einschätzen kann, wirkt die sub2 wahrscheinlich stärker.
