Das ISTAF ist für mich "Fan Service". Man kann die Deutschen Mal sehen oder vor Ort auch vielleicht treffen. Es ist für mich aber kaum geeignet, "neue" Fans für die Leichtathletik zu generieren. Es ist einfach so unfassbar offensichtlich, dass es um nichts geht – die Saison ist durch, die Felder sind meist so, dass die Platzierung im Vorfeld weitestgehend klar ist. manchmal werden irgendwelche absurden Weltrekorde aufgestellt (2000 m Hindernis Gesa. Ist schön, weiß aber jeder selbst, dass es daran liegt, dass es kaum gelaufen wird und damit direkt wenig wertig).
Ist halt ein "Stadionfest" nicht wirklich ein Wettkampf.
Was in meinen Augen toll wären wären U20 oder U23-Weltmeisterschaften (oder Europameisterschaften) in Deutschland und der Versuch, diese ins TV zu bekommen. Das gelingt in anderen Sportarten ja auch. Man hätte die Chance, potentielle Starts von Morgen aufzubauen und zudem ist Deutschland hier ja meist auch recht erfolgreich. Damit kann mn dann auch mal Euphorie erzeugen. Und: Es geht um etwas klar nachvollziehbares: WM-Titel.
