Das Beispiel mit Pellaud zeigt nur dass man nicht ein halbes Jahrzehnt benötigt für gute 800 m Ergebnisse.
Eine Simone Beutelsbacher kam vom Sprint, lief 1995 eine 54,23 und zum Saisonausklang eine 2:09,69. Im Jahr darauf war sie schon bei 2:03,81. Ihr Trainer Jürgen Schneider war ursprl. auch ein Sprinter. Warum sollte das Buggel nicht auch können?
Weil er mit Christina Hering nicht bewiesen hat, dass er sich in der Materie gut auskennt. Sie hatte eine tolle Form gemeinsam mit Andreas Knauer erarbeitet und leider war Sven Buggel nicht dazu in der Lage, diese nur im Ansatz zu konservieren. Außerdem ist insgesamt das Niveau deutlicher krasser geworden als zur Zeit von Simone Beutelsbacher. Trainingsmethoden haben sich geändert. Da muss man schauen, einen Trainer zu finden, der mit der Zeit geht und sich von den Nationen etwas abschaut, die eben auf den Mittelstrecken dominieren.
