Die Medaillenbilanzen der bisherigen U18-Europameisterschaften werden sich nur schwer wiederholen lassen:
- 2016: 4 Gold / 4 Silber / 2 Bronze
- 2018: 4 / 2 / 1
- 2022: 4 / 7 / 3
Interessehalber habe ich mal geschaut, welche Deutschen unter den Top 8 platziert waren und was auch ihnen geworden ist. Und das ist nicht wirklich viel:
- 2016 sticht vor allem Bo Kanda Lita Baehre heraus, der mit EM-Silber eine Medaille im internationalen Bereich geholt hat. Emil Agyekum ist das in der Staffel auch gelungen, zudem hat er sich auch individuell extrem verbessert. Ansonsten wäre nur noch Mohamed Abdilaahi wirklich erwähnenswert.
- 2018 sieht die heutige Bilanz noch viel schlechter aus. Marcel Meyer ist als 37. der Weltrangliste zu nennen, Mona Meyer nur als Staffelmitglied. Ansonsten ist meist das Karriereende zu bilanzieren.
Eine internationale Meisterschaft ist immer unterhaltsam und ein Höhepunkt im Leben der Nominierten, aber mit dieser Bilanz braucht man da auch nicht viel hineininterpretieren. Vor allem dürfte man auch gar nicht bei der U18-EM Auffällige finden, die heute zwischen 23 und 25 Jahren alt sind und die deutsche Leichtathletik auf dem internationalen Parkett prägen (spontan fällt mir Yemisi Ogunleye ein).
