Kommt das historisch hin? Der "Laufboom" hatte ja mehrere Wellen seit ca. 1970. D.h. wenn überhaupt, könnte höchstens die letzte Welle (1990er?) das Interesse am Zuschauen gekillt haben.
Meiner vagen Erinnerung nach hat halt die mediale Konzentration auf den Fußball (und wenige andere, Motorsport, Tennis, Tour de France, Wintersport) in den letzten 30 Jahren zugenommen (wobei ich einräumen muss, als Jugendlicher in den 80ern und 90ern einfach viel mehr Sport geglotzt zu haben, ich kann mich daher täuschen). Auch die anderen Ballsportarten scheinen mir massiv an Medienpräsenz verloren zu haben.
Ich kann verstehen, dass Straßen/cityläufe für Zuschauer und oft auch Athleten attraktiver sind und es schwer fällt, Crossläufe als Alternative populär zu machen.
