Es ist definitiv möglich zwei Kategorien für einen Wettbewerb zu haben. Allerdings ist bei den mir bekannten Beispielen die nationale Meisterschaft die höhere Kategorie. Sollte aber andersrum theoretisch auch möglich sein.

(Beispiel: Melbourne Track Classics 2020.Die 5000m zählten als Meisterschaft für die Australier. Die zweitplazierte Japanerin Hitomi Niiya bekam Bonuspunkte für Kat. D. Gen Gregson wurde dritte, bekam aber Bonuspunkte als zweite der Meisterschaften.)


Es muss auch irgendwie möglich sein. Es steht nämlich auch in den Ranking Rules. 

1. In Area Championships and National Championships Placing Scores can only be awarded to athletes representing their Area and Home Country respectively. Athletes representing a foreign Member Federation or other Areas are regarded as out of competition participants (OC) and only receive Result Scores for their performances, regardless of their original position indicated in the official results of the competition.
   
2. In case a competition belongs to more than one Category, the most favourable Placing Score is considered for each athlete based on the positions achieved in the different classifications.
   

Bei den Mehrkampfbeispielen von Stelvio müsste 1.) eingetreten sein, weil es wirklich nur eine Nationale Meisterschaft war. Was mich aber stutzig macht, ist das 10000 m Beispiel, weil es sich beim Gouden Spike Meeting um ein internationales Meeting handelt. Ausländische Teilnehmer haben trotzdem keine BP bekommen. Eigentlich müsste es ja so sein, wie in deinem 5000 m Beispiel.
