Außerdem gibt es auch 400m-Läufer, die 350er laufen, was dann insbesondere bei 3x350m die Laktattoleranz sehr intensiv trainiert. Nicht jeder hat allerdings den mentalen Mumm dazu, dreimal fast die Wettkampfstrecke im Wettkampftempo zu laufen in einer Trainingseinheit, zumal es einem danach auch sehr schlecht geht.
Das anaerobe Training zerstört durch die Übersäuerung die Mitochondrien, wobei die aerobe Energiebereitstellung bei 70% der Gesamtenergie zum Schluss am höchsten legt. Jeder Tempolauf zerstört somit etwas von der aeroben Kapazität.
