Sofort eilten Helfer des medizinischen Teams von World Athletics herbei und versorgten die 18-Jährige. Die Szenen erinnerten erschreckend stark an ihre Schwester Sara, die bei der WM in Eugene (USA) nach dem 5.000-Meter-Finale zusammengebrochen war. Doch auch hier konnte kurz darauf Entwarnung gegeben werden: Sofia Benfares ist wohl auf." Solche Sachen würden mir keine Ruhe geben. Lasst die Geschwister zu Hause auf Herz und Nieren prüfen! Solche Vorkommnisse soll man nicht auf die leichte Schulter nehmen. Ich hatte hier vor einiger Zeit geschrieben, dass man in Tübingen noch bessere Methoden hat, das Herz durchzuchecken. Es gibt ja auch so Synkopen, wo man von einer Sekunde auf die andere umfällt. Ein starker Blutdruckabfall ist in den ersten Minuten nach dem Lauf normal. Es kommt wohl darauf, was noch normal ist?! Ich finde, dass man da absolute Topmediziner konsultieren sollte. In solchen Fällen wären meine Sorgen und Fürsorge groß. Gertrud

Ich denke ihm gng es durchaus bei dem Start in Ulm in erster Linie darum den Titel zu holen. Auch das ist wichtig hinsichtlich Sponsoring und Förderung. Ob unter diesem Gesichtspunkt bei jungen Athleten immer verantwortungsvoll mit der Gesundheit umgegangen wird, kann man sicher in Frage stellen. |
