In der Leichtathletik werden die Leistungen als Zeiten oder Weiten (Höhen) erfaßt.
Im Gegensatz zu anderen Sportarten erlaubt dies in der Leichtathletik eine gewisse Vergleichbarkeit von Leistungen ohne, dass sich zwei Sportler am gleichen Ort befinden müssen - ja sie müssen noch nicht einmal in der gleichen Epoche leben.
In anderen Sportarten ist das so nicht möglich; wer war besser Sampras oder Djokovic, Agassi oder Federer?
Gerade als Mehrkampffan bietet die Messbarkeit einen großen Gewinn. Wenn nicht gerade ein Großereignis ansteht, ist die Jagd nach Rekorden doch das spannendste, was es gibt. Und die Mehrkämpfer nehmen sich nach dem Wettkampf alle an die Hand und machen gemeinsam die Ehrenrunde - es gibt halt viele Sieger. Jeder konnte gegen sich selber bestehen und es ist messbar wie gut er war.
Ich finde das toll und wir sollten viel daran setzen, dass diese Vergleichbarkeit insbesondere bei Großereignissen so gut wie irgendmöglich gewährt wird.
Willst du Rennen nur noch auf Meereshöhe und bei Windstille stattfinden lassen? (nur dann sind die Zeiten wirklich vergleichbar).
