Solange es sich wirklich noch um "running" handelt und nicht um "crawling, diving, climbing and a bit of running" fände ich es auch begrüßenswert, wenn die "Crosscountry" Läufe nicht wie Straßenrennen auf der Wiese aussehen.
Eine in Skandinavien beliebte Alternative ist der Orientierungslauf, hier läuft jeder so wie er mag und muss sich den Weg zum Ziel (meist nicht sofort sichtbar) suchen, mit Karte und Kompass, aber eben in der Regel alles in natürlichem Gelände gelaufen. Hier kommt es auch auf Trittsicherheit und ein dem Gelände angepassten Laufstil an (viel rauf und runter). Das schult übrigens durchaus auch das Einschätzen des eigenen Körpers, da weder die Streckenlänge noch der Kurs bekannt sind, wer also ohne Hirn losrast…
