Wenn man denn wollte, hätte man einige Antworten auf diese Frage im Threadverlauf schon zur Kenntnis nehmen können.
Indem man Julia Stepanova zu ihrem Recht auf einen Olympiastart verholfen hätte, hätte man auf größtmöglicher öffentlicher Bühne ein Zeichen gesetzt, dass man ihren Verdienst bei der Aufdeckung eines Dopingskandals von historischer Dimension anerkennt. Man hätte durch dieses und viele andere Zeichen zukünftigen potentiellen Whistleblowern signalisieren können, dass sie, wenn sie sich gegen ein korruptes System stellen, wieder als normale Mitglieder in die Gemeinschaft aufgenommen, anstatt als lästige Störenfriede abgestraft werden.
Besonder schlimm ist das gegenteilige Zeichen, das jetzt gesetzt wurde - Whistleblower werden allein gelassen, man bringt noch nicht einmal die Minimalleistung, ihnen zu ihrem Recht zu verhelfen, sondern knickt vor denen ein, denen sie durch ihre Taten geschadet haben.
D a s Zeichen ist klar und deutlich: werde nicht zum Whistleblower, das schadet dir nur.

Der Start eines Whistleblowers unter olympischer Flagge ist nicht explizit ausgeschlossen und somit eine reguläre Sonderbehandlung, die nötig ist, weil das ROC ihr ihr Recht verweigert. Das IOC hat sich dieser Möglichkeit durch die zweifelhafte Entscheidung seiner Ethikkommission in Verbindung mit dem inzwischen gekippten Starverbot für ehemalige russische Dopingsünder beraubt.
