Zum Thema Nike, Sharapova und Gatlin folgender erhellender Kommentar eines Nutzers auf trackandfieldnews.com
Zitat:Nike dropping [Sharapova] is simple economics, not any moral stance. She's not the big headliner and tournament winner she used to be when she signed the contract years ago, and therefore no longer worth it to them to keep paying her over $8 million a year.
Presumably the contract has an escape clause for drug positives, so they used this opportunity to terminate it and save the remaining millions. If the contract allowed termination if the US price of gas dropped below $2.50 they would have dropped her for that last year.
By contrast, the amount she was getting paid in a month from Nike is surely more than what Gatlin is getting in a year, and he's been performing better than what was expected when he signed his contract.

Fazit: Nike tut, was gut fürs Geschäft ist. Ob du, Eknulah, deswegen keine Nike Klamotten mehr kaufst, ist ihnen völlig egal, so lange du Teil einer verschwindend geringen Minderheit bist.
