Möglicherweise hat sich Gabius zu spät den langen Strecken ab 10K zugewendet - irgendwann tickt die Jahresuhr. Möglicherweise ist er aber auch ein reiner 3000-5000m-Typ mit guter Ausdauer für längere Distanzen.
Er hat in 2012 drei für ihn herausstehende 3000er bzw.3218er gelaufen: 7:35, 7:38i, 8:10i(3218m, entspr.7:36). Das gibt aus diesen drei Rennen einen durchschnittlichen 1000er-Split von 2:32. Seine 13:12 entsprechen etwas mehr als 2:38/1000m. Diese 6sec+ sind eigentlich schon zu viel Aufschlag für einen "echten" 10000m-Typ. Gebrselaissie hatte stehen: 3:31i(!)/3:33/7:25/12:39/26:22/58:55/2:03:59, Bekele: 3:32/7:25/12:37/26:17/60:09/2:05:02. Aus meiner Sicht 3000-10000m-Spezialisten mit sehr guter Ausdauer, aber ab HM eben nicht mehr absolut top. Die beiden haben bei 3000m 1000erSplits von 2:28+, bei 5000m 2:31,8/4. Also gerade mal 3sec mehr als über 3000m! Gabius schon mehr als 6 Sekunden . . . und seine 5000m-Zeit passt nicht zu seiner 10000er. Diese 27:55 fügen sich aber einigermaßen zu HM- und Marathonzeit, allerdings auf etwas tieferem Niveau.
Auch Mo Farah ist so ein Fall, aus meiner Sicht noch deutlicher: ich halte ihn für einen 1500m-Läufer mit hervorragender Ausdauer, um Meisterschaftsrennen über 5000/10000m zu gewinnen: er hat eine 3:28,9(!) im Umfeld eines Trainings abgeliefert, das auf einen olympischen Doppelstart für 5000/10000m ausgerichtet war . . . dieser Mann hätte mit einer Spezialisierung auf 1500m durchaus im Umfeld von 3:26 laufen können! Seine enorme Übersetzung passt aber leider weder für HM noch für Marathon.
