Mit Sportkumpels habe ich die Sache diskutiert. Immerhin ist der Thomas Schmitt erst 26 Jahre alt und ein 19 m-Mann. Aus meiner Zeit kenne ich auch einen 20,40 m Stoßer, der wegen einer schmerzenden Hand danach kaum noch 19 m stoßen konnte. Da wurde auch sofort was vermutet. Dabei war die Erklärung eben nur die Verletzung der Hand. Bei Thomas Schmitt ist seit den 19 m Zeit vergangen, die schmerzende Hand zumindest gebessert, zuletzt ein intensives Wintertraining. Kraft nahm zu, Körpergewicht ab oder wurde zu Muskel, dieTechnik verbessert und eben keine einschränkenden Schmerzen. Das würde schon so für Weiten von deutlich über 20 m sprechen können. Und dann kommt der bei Drehstoßern bekannte mögliche ideale Stoß, so ideal wie im Sprung Beamon oder Bayer. Zudem ist seine Weite von über 21 m noch weit von den wahrhaft verdächtigen 22-23 m Weiten entfernt. Da muss man die Kirche mal im Dorf lassen. Mit Schmitts 2,02 Körpergröße und ordentlichen Kraftwerten bei exzellenter Technik, wie man sieht, stimmen die Grundbedingungen. Zudem ist der Mann Physiker. Der kennt sich mit Vektoren aus. Thomas Schmitt will sich freiwillig kontrollieren lassen. Das ist gut so. Ich wünsche ihm schöne Weiten über 20,60 m (WM-Norm !), nicht in Übach-Palenberg versteht sich und - die Hand muss halten.
