Ratingen - Endspurt oder nur Zwischenspurt vor der WM?
Normalerweise war Ratingen ja traditionell so eine Art Last-Chance-Meeting vor den Majors gewesen für Athleten, die in Götzis gescheitert waren. Durch das Hochsetzen der Super-Normen und die zunehmende Bedeutung der WA-Rankingsliste hat sich die Situation jedoch deutlich geändert.
Zum einen hat Ratingen seinen GL-Status eingebüßt und ist mit Cat. A nur noch genauso eingestuft wie das wohl zum "neuen" Last-Chance-Meeting avancierende Bydgoszcz Ende Juli. Zum anderen gibt es bis zum Ende der Quali-Periode noch eine Unzahl von Meetings mit guten Punktechancen: darunter 2 Kontinentalmeisterschaften (GL), 2 Regionalmeisterschaften (B/C), die U23 EM © und etliche Nat.Meisterschaften (B).
Vor diesem Hintergund ist die Einschätzung der Qualifikationschancen merklich schwieriger als in den Vorjahren geworden. Davon unbeeindruckt hat der DLV darauf verzichtet, anders als die meisten anderen Verbände die MK-DM noch in den Quali-Zeitraum zu legen (verschenkt somit die 60P) und nominiert (am 13.7.) sogar 2 Wochen vor Ablauf der Quali-Frist und noch vor dem Notfall-Meeting in Bydgoszcz. Das kann man so machen, wenn wie bei den Herren die Plätze mit Neugebauer/Kaul/Eitel quasi sicher sind. Das wird aber dann zum Problem, wenn einer verletzt ausfällt und etwaige Nachrücker auf die Liste angewiesen sind (Kazmirek/Nowak/Wolter etc.). Selbstverständlich hat dieses Vorgehen auch seine Vorzüge: so gewährt es den Nominierten die Ruhe, sich besser auf die WM vorzubereiten.
Während die Kandidaten für die U23-EM/Espoo bereits am 6.6. (hatte mein Missfallen erregt, weil dadurch das NCAA-Finale nicht mehr berücksichtigt wird) nominiert werden sollten, stehen unmittelbar vor Ratingen jetzt die U20-EM Nominierungen an sowie kurz nach Ratingen die Thorpe-Cup Aspiranten (für die eigentlich Teilnahmepflicht dort herrscht). Dackfield hatte sich ja schon gewundert, warum dann so wenige dt. TN vor Ort sind.
Wie ist nun die Ausgangslage mit Blick auf die WM vor Ratingen?
I. Herren
Zieht man die 2 Wildcards sowie die derzeit Q-Qualifizierten (11) ab und weiter die 3 Kontinentalmeister (1 aus 22 und 2 aus 23) bleiben lediglich noch 8 Auffüllplätze. Der Cut-off für Budapest könnte demnach bei 1230 liegen.
- Kaul für ihn geht es nur um die Paris-Norm (notfalls sollte er aber auch in Budapest genug Listenpunkte sammeln können)
- Nowak derzeit hinter Eitel in der Liste. Bräuchte 1241PfSc, also top3 und 8350. Halte ich eher für ausgeschlossen.
- Wolter über die Liste leider keine Chance auf die WM und die Norm ist doch noch sehr weit weg. M.E wäre es ein schöner Erfolg für ihn, wenn er nochmals seine PB verbessert. Die Form scheint zu stimmen.
- Van der Plaetsen hat noch kein Ergebnis für die Liste. Wird Norm ansteuern, hatte in Desenzano guten Start und war im Bereich 8200+ unterwegs. Ich sehe ihn aber noch eher um 8300.
- Kopecky in Götzis noch nicht in Form. Bräuchte top4 mit 8320 um den vermeintlichen Cut-off zu schaffen.
- Taam liegt noch weiter zurück; er bräuchte schon den 2. Platz mit 8320; eher unwahrscheinlich
- Lillemets noch mit geringen Chancen, bräuchte top3 und 8300+-
- Urena hat bislang nur ein indoor Ergebnis, bräuchte eigentlich top3 mit 8200+ und den Sieg bei den span. Meisterschaften mit ähnlichen Punkten. Schwierig.
- Helcelet bislang nur ein schwaches Ergebnis, braucht hier und in Bydgoszcz je 8250+ Sehr schwer.
Ich hoffe, dass Kaul die Norm packt und weitere 3 über 8200 schaffen. Das wäre für Ratingen hilfreich, die Kategorie zu halten. Eine Rückkehr-Chance auf GL scheint mir bei dem Feld eher unrealistisch.
II. Frauen
2 Wildcards und 5 Qs sowie 4 AreaChamps (2 aus 22 und 2 aus 23) lassen noch 13 Auffüllplätze in der Road übrig.
Geht man davon aus, dass der Cut-off bei 1180 liegt, wären Weißenberg/Schäfer ohnehin durch. Zumindest können Sie unbeschwert einen Angriff auf die Paris-Norm versuchen. Ähnliches dürfte Oosterwegel planen.
- Grimm w. des guten Götzis22 bräuchte sie "nur" top4 und etwa 6120 für den Cut, das sollte machbar sein.
- Obermaier in Götzis noch mit Leistungsschwankungen könnte aber hier der erneute Angriff auf die 6k kommen. Für sie geht es aber vorrangig um einen Thorpe-Cup-Platz.
Den Rekonvaleszenten Mayr, Ellenwood, O'Connor traue ich die Norm noch nicht zu; aber sie brauchen zumindest ein gutes Listenergebnis im Bereich von 6200, um sich bei weiteren Meetings vorzukämpfen. Ein Resultat deutlich über 6000 ist eigentlich auch Burns (23 besser in Form als 22), Esselink und vllt Turpin zuzutrauen, wenn alles optimal läuft. Das Frauenfeld ist im Bereich 5800 - 6200 sehr stark besetzt, da kann auch mal eine über sich hinauswachsen.
+++Leider stehen auch schon einige Verlierer von Ratingen23 fest: da Kazmirek und Diakite hier nicht starten können und Bydgoszcz zeitlich nach der Nominierung liegt, haben beide keine realistische Chance mehr auf die WM+++
