Zum Thema Attraktivität müsste man erstmal analysieren, was die Zuschauer eigentlich wollen, was schon mit der Frage anfängt "was ist ein Zuschauer?". Die LA-Interessierten wären vermutlich zufrieden, wenn alles (weitgehend) so bleibt wie es immer war. Aber die Gelegenheits-Zuschauer wollen vermutlich in erster Linie "Emotionen". Man kann ja selbst bei den Fußball-Übertragungen sehen, dass die Öffis eher auf die Gelegenheits-Zuschauer abzielen und sich scheuen, auch nur ein bisschen ins Detail über Taktik oder Technik zu gehen (höchstens mal kurz in der Halbzeitpause, aber bitte bitte nicht während des Spiels, da sollen nur Emotionen angesprochen werden - am besten heulende Zuschauer und schreiende Reporter).
Emotionen in der LA kriegt man z.B. nicht hin, wenn der Zuschauer die Athleten nicht kennt. Und kennen lernen kann er sie nur, wenn sie entweder schon bekannt sind (Stars, die dann mit Home-Stories, wird ja schon bis zum Erbrechen gemacht), oder wenn er sie im Wettkampf kennenlernt. Das funktioniert wirklich gut beim Mehrkampf, finde ich. Die Athleten zeigen Stärken, Schwächen, der Zuschauer mag sie oder auch nicht, das ganze kann sich entwickeln. Das funktioniert auch einigermaßen über mehrere Versuche in den technischen Disziplinen oder über Vor-, Zwischen-, Endlauf in den Sprints (wenn man sich jeweils die Zeit nähme, das tut natürlich auch der Gelegenheitszuschauer eher nicht), weniger gut über mehrere Runden in Ausdauer-Rennen. Schlecht für Emotionen sind z.B. leere Ränge und - ganz wichtig - langweilige Reporter. Inkompetente Reporter sind nicht ganz so schlimm, eher für die LA-Zuschauer als für die Gelegenheitszuschauer. Aber für Leute, die vielleicht in Zukunft öfter mal zusehen wollen, wäre ein kompetenter Kommentator ein absolutes Muss.
Was auch gut ankommt: Sightseeing beim Sport (Tour de France, Abfahrtsrennen). Das funktioniert gut beim Marathon, mit Abstrichen beim Gehen.
Rückschlüsse:
* gehen mehr Mehrkämpfe? Z.B. eine Goldmedaille im Sprint? (60m - 100m - 200 m - 400 m, möglicherweise mit Wahlmöglichkeit?), eine im Wurf, eine im Sprung, eine für Ausdauer?? Wäre das praktikabel?
* Events in die Städte (Kugel, Stabhoch, evtl. sogar Sprints?). Löst das "Leere Ränge"-Problem, und bringt ggf. Sightseeing-mäßig auch was.
* Spannungselemente (Spannung=Emotion) in den Abläufen hinzuzufügen wäre auch nicht schlecht, Vorschläge gibt's ja einige. (Übrigens könnte man beim Zehnkampf die Reihenfolge ändern, z.B. 1500 auf das Ende von Tag 1, die 400 dorthin wo der Stabhochsprung ist und dann Stabhoch ans Ende. Dort dann gerne mit einer Art "Gundersen-Stabhoch", nach dem Motto "jetzt liegen 8500 Punkte auf", was für den einen dann 4,60 ist, für den anderen vielleicht 5,30. Weiß nicht recht, was das kräftemäßig für die Athleten bedeuten würde...)
* gute Reporter, keine Platzhirsche. Mir schwebt durchaus sowas vor wie Heinrich/Thiele, nur mit Kompetenz. Ich glaube übrigens, dass auch Gelegenheitszuschauer kompetente Kommentare - auch zu Details - durchaus zu schätzen wüssten.
