Ausser KK und GK hat niemand auch nur annähernd eine Chance bei der WM auch nur in die Nähe von Medaillen zu kommen. Eine Heim EM mit viel medialer Aufmerksamkeit und viel besseren Chancen auch weil einige Topstars die WM vorziehen ist da doch viel sinnvoller .
In den meisten Disziplinen ist es eh kein Problem, bei beiden events zu starten. Natürlich wird jemand wie Farken bei der WM laufen wollen, selbst wenn eine Medaille in weiter Ferne ist. Und 3-4 Wochen Topform zu halten, ist auch durchaus möglich. Gesa Krause ist zB 2016 in Amsterdam und Rio fast auf die Sekunde gleich schnell gelaufen. Die WM ist ja auch eine wichtige Gelegenheit für internat. Erfahrungen, gute Zeiten/Weiten und Listenpunkte.
Bei den Marathonläufern, die es hauptsächlich betrifft, hat der Großteil auch bei der EM keine Einzelmedaillenchancen. Da wird die Lockung der möglichen Teammedaille schon einige eher die EM vorziehen lassen.
Am härtesten wird es vermutlich im Zehnkampf, zwei Topleistungen innerhalb von knapp 4 Wochen zu bringen, zumal bei der Verletzungsgefahr. Betrifft einen eher Anfälligen wie Mayer allerdings natürlich genauso wie die Deutschen. Der hat zwar keine Heim-EM, aber der Titel fehlt ihm noch.
