Die schnellsten Zeiten werden meist beim Saisonhöhepunkt gelaufen, eine gute Zeit wie die 3:24 letztes Jahr wäre eine ausgezeichnete Versicherung für die Quali für Budapest.
Und warum kann man es sich im Hinblick auf künftige Meisterschaften nicht leisten? Eine Finalqualifikation hat keinen Einfluss auf die WM-Teilnahme im kommenden Jahr, abgesehen davon, dass der 400m Einzelwettbewerb 6 Tage vor dem 4x400 Vorlauf ist, sie also kaum übermüdet sein dürfte.
