I've been an athlete all my life and played collegiate soccer. Now that I've graduated, however, I'm looking to start something physical again that depends more on just me. I still love soccer, but I hate that I have to depend on a bunch of other people in order to play it, so I'd like to start a more independent sport / hobby. Does anyone have suggestions / work out plans they started and enjoyed?
I am 24, female, 5'8'', and pretty lean. I've done and enjoyed crossfit, but I have some lower back issues so I'm not sure that would be in my best interest to start up again. I like to lift, but have found that without a "purpose," I loose motivation quickly. For example, when I was playing in college, working out was a means to stay in shape for soccer, but now when I'm lifting, while I know it's good for my health and well-being, I get distracted easily because in the back of my mind I feel like I'm not really training for anything. Running is an awesome solo sport that I admire but it's just not fun for me. I wish I liked it, but I just find it boring. Perhaps I need to pick something and commit to doing it religiously for a certain period of time in order to make a more sound decision on if I really like it or not....
Anyways, I'm just thinking out loud and would appreciate any feedback / advise you can provide.
Thanks!
