Normale Version: What after college sports?
Du siehst gerade eine vereinfachte Darstellung unserer Inhalte. Normale Ansicht mit richtiger Formatierung.
I've been an athlete all my life and played collegiate soccer. Now that I've graduated, however, I'm looking to start something physical again that depends more on just me. I still love soccer, but I hate that I have to depend on a bunch of other people in order to play it, so I'd like to start a more independent sport / hobby. Does anyone have suggestions / work out plans they started and enjoyed?
I am 24, female, 5'8'', and pretty lean. I've done and enjoyed crossfit, but I have some lower back issues so I'm not sure that would be in my best interest to start up again. I like to lift, but have found that without a "purpose," I loose motivation quickly. For example, when I was playing in college, working out was a means to stay in shape for soccer, but now when I'm lifting, while I know it's good for my health and well-being, I get distracted easily because in the back of my mind I feel like I'm not really training for anything. Running is an awesome solo sport that I admire but it's just not fun for me. I wish I liked it, but I just find it boring. Perhaps I need to pick something and commit to doing it religiously for a certain period of time in order to make a more sound decision on if I really like it or not....
Anyways, I'm just thinking out loud and would appreciate any feedback / advise you can provide.
Thanks!

I'm not sure this is the right forum for you. This is a German track and field forum. Are you planning to move to Germany? If yes there is a variety of soccer league available for women in Germany from rec leagues to semi pro leagues. The best bundesliga female players even can have a decent living for some years but then you have to be very good.

As for track and field there is also a variety of options. There are track and field clubs allowing organized competitions again from rec level to high performance but there are also street runs you can attend without joining a club.

Since it seems you don't like distance running do you like jumping, sprinting or throwing?

And then there is always golf or tennis if you like individual sportsSmile badminton and table tennis are awesome too and easier to learn for adult athletes.

If you don't want to move to Germany and hate trck and field you might consider another forum since this primary German speaking forum about competetive track and field.
